HEALTHY LIVING

The Quest Team at CBMS has been working on three service learning projects.  Students chose "healthy living" as their overall theme, with subgroups of gardening, composting, and cooking.  Quest team students have researched these topics and are now busily working with their learning.
The gardening group has built four raised beds.  They have put the beds together, filled them with compost, and have planted seeds and seedlings.  They are now scheduling students to help out with these plants over the summertime months.  The composting group has revitalized our compost system here at CBMS with a new composter they call "Yoshibug."  We have begun composting in our classrooms, and hope to take it to the school next year.  Our cooks are busy in the kitchen, helping prepare and serve healthy recipes that they have researched.
It has been a successful unit, and all students are seeing the benefits of research and hard work.  They chose these groups to be a cycle of food at our school.  We plant the vegetables, we cook the vegetables, and then we compost the scraps.  "Now I understand why we research," said one student in reflection, "and look at how much fun we are having!"

WONDERFUL

SUMMER!

Who is this guy?

Mr. Schneider challenged the students to earn “Eagle eggs” through good behavior and if they did, he’d shave off his beard! Guess who won? Via video streaming to classroom computers, everyone was able to watch this fun event right on our website!
